Setback happens and is perfectly normal. Life is not a straight road. You need to maneuver the turns. It is important to turn your steering at the right time to take care of the turn instead of doing nothing and crashing ahead. When a setback happens personal or professional, the first thing that crosses the mind is why me. It is normal to feel some disappointment, anger, or even frustration for it. Let the emotions flow and accept them but don’t let that drag you down.
“Analysis which leads to positive acknowledgement and move forward is fine”
Acknowledge it but don’t blame anyone for it, either yourself or someone else. You think what you could have done differently to not be in that situation. Analysis which leads to positive acknowledgement and move forward is fine. The problem stems when you catch on to it and overanalyze it. Blaming yourself or someone else will not let you overcome the problem, you won’t move forward. So do look at the reasons and learn from it to prevent those mistakes.
Ask for Help
Once you take the first step of acknowledgement you then go to the next step where you need to seek help from others. The help can come from family, friends or even strangers for that matter. Talk to a doctor or a therapist if needed. There is no stigma in seeking help. Backing from others help overcome the problem.
“Learn from the experience of others. If you don’t trust anyone close, search for a therapist and discuss with them.”
You are not in this alone. The problem increases when you start avoiding people. You just go more and more into it overthinking it. Take help, please understand you are not alone in it. I can’t state this again and again. Identify the person you are comfortable discussing your issues. Learn from the experience of others. If you don’t trust anyone close, search for a therapist and discuss with them. They have various tools to help you overcome the issues.
Convert it to a new opportunity.
Setback is your step to a new world. Something better is waiting for you. Take that first step. If you don’t take that step, you won’t be able to grasp it. Take that step and grasp it. Take that failure head-on and convert it as a new opportunity. We get laid back in life. If things are going fine, we do not think or do much. The setback is your step for that new world that is waiting for you.
“Life is a marathon not a sprint. You do not start running from the start line, you first exercise, loosen your muscles, jog slowly initially and then get into that steady run”
Learn, maybe identify that something you have always been thinking of doing and were not able to do it. Take the time as a training period. Learning about that forgotten dream may be your gateway to the new beginning. Life is a marathon not a sprint. You do not start running from the start line, you first exercise, loosen your muscles, jog slowly initially and then get into that steady run. Take this period as that loosening of the muscles. Stretch and relax your muscles for gaining speed at the right time.
“Dark nights no matter how long or dark they appear will always leads to a new dawn of that beautiful morning filled with sunlight.”
Make yourself stronger to overcome this temporary setback. Nothing in life is permanent. If the good times were not permanent before this setup. This setback is also not permanent. This will improve. Dark nights no matter how long or dark they appear will always leads to a new dawn of that beautiful morning filled with sunlight Identify that light in your life who can take you out of this darkness.
Plan and act
As your emotions calm down, as you take stock of the situation, comprehend the problem. Look at trying to get to the solution. No problem is big enough to not have a solution. During our childhood if we struggled on a certain math problem. Ever wondered how sometimes after a long and hard try you were not able to solve it. If you left it and slept over it, you were able to get to the solution next morning.
“Once you have your goals in front of you, act on them. Don’t sit and wait for something to happen. Make it happen.”
This was because your mind at been hard at work while you were sleeping. Similarly let your positive mind resolve the issue. Plan for how you will move forward. If solution is not in sight let go and retry the next morning. Repetition is the key not the temporary thinking persistence. Identify your goals and think of how you will achieve them. Once you have your goals in front of you, act on them. Don’t sit and wait for something to happen. Make it happen.
It is easy to get frustrated in the process but be patient. Repeat and repeat. Work on that plan and put that in action. Things will not get better instantly. It takes time. Be at it and work towards the goal. Remember the marathon we talked about earlier. You think of quitting it so many times. Many thoughts come at that time, I can’t do it anymore, should I rest for some time. When you finish the marathon the euphoria and excitement of the finish erases all the earlier thoughts of not doing it.
So get up keep on running, this is a start wait for that finish line, Like they say life is a journey not a destination, you will finally be able to overcome this journey.
